After two years we’re finally getting over all the
hurdles required by Jackson County Parks, Oregon State Parks and the
Bureau of Reclamation. Additionally, we’re now legally organized as a
501C3 “Charitable Organization” allowing all our friends and donors to
make “tax deductible” donations to our cause.
As you may have heard, after all the surveys that
were conducted (some 600 responses) the majority of park users wanted to
rebuild the barn but make it more user friendly by adding stalls, running
water, electricity and areas where people could congregate.
This was contradictory to the original plan to
rebuild the barn as it was prior to the fire.
So, after much work in trying to fulfill all park
users requests we’ve come up the following plan for Lily Glen.
1-
Build a 20’X30’ replica of the original barn to become a public use
structure housing historical information on the park and Lily Glen.
2-
Build an approximate 60’X120’ Pole Barn housing 30 12’X12’ stalls.
3-
Build a 10’X5’ Handicap Mounting Ramp.
4-
Rebuild existing eventing course jumps and trail.
5-
Construct permanent structure and location for manure disposal.
6-
Construct 15 new “pull through” campsites on South end of group
area.
7-
Install solar water pumping system and holding tank.
8-
Reconstruct park entrance for safer ingress/egress.
If successful in achieving our goal of $250,000.00 in
labor, materials, cash and grant money, the State Parks Department has
advised that “matching funds” would be available through the Lottery
program. This would provide sufficient funds to complete the project with
all surplus monies being placed in a trust for future care and maintenance
of the park.
Under no circumstances would any of the surplus funds
or trusts be available for use for anything other than the park.
So, we’re on our way so tell your friends and
neighbors about what’s happening and have them be watching for activities,
events and fundraisers to help us reach our goal.
